The surroundings also provide excellent opportunities for both challenging and relaxing walks. A number of paths lead all the way up the hill to the Fortezza da Girifalco located on top of the hill. Walking along the old Roman road you will able to enjoy a stunning view over the Valdichiana, perhaps the very best in Cortona. On top of the hill the view stretches into the distance from lake Trasimeno all the way to the Apennines.
A relaxing stroll up the cypress-lined road to Torreone will take you to a quiet, off-the-beaten-track part of town where several celebrities chose to live.
